Tales from Sakespeare

In 1807, siblings Charles and Mary Lamb authored Tales from Shakespeare, a retelling of William Shakespeare's greatest plays. This children's book aimed to familiarize young readers with Shakespeare's works through simple language and relatable stories. Mary wrote comedies like 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and 'As You Like It', while tragedies such as 'Macbeth' and 'The Merchant of Venice' were handled by Charles. Unfortunately, it wasn't until the seventh edition that Mary was recognized as a co-author. The book received a positive response and has been republished numerous times, serving as an excellent introduction to the world of Shakespeare for young readers.
