The protagonist, Cecilia Murray, has always dreamed of owning a dog. When she discovers a lovable pug named Potato at the Orphan Paws shelter where she volunteers, she believes he is the perfect companion. However, her hopes are crushed when popular and self-absorbed classmate Eric Chung adopts Potato first, with plans to turn him into a show-dog champion. Determined to protect Potato from the pretentious world of dog shows, Cecilia sets out to ruin Eric's plans. But as she spends more time with Potato and Eric, she starts to question her own opinions on the subject. Will Cecilia be able to save Potato while also following her heart?
