City of Jackals

In the December of 2005, Egypt is facing significant political changes, with protests by South Sudanese refugees demanding their rights and early signs of organized opposition to the regime. Amidst this turmoil, Makana is hired by the parents of Mourad Hafiz, a university dropout who may have been involved in political activity before his disappearance. As Makana delves deeper into the case, he finds himself embroiled in ethnic conflict and gang violence as well as crossing paths with the enigmatic Ihsan Qaddus and the Hesira Institute. This fifth installment of the series takes place in a tense and fraught Cairo, where Makana must navigate the treacherous waters of a society on the brink of change.
